[PPP Rebrand] Changing More than Just a Name- Creating Your Professional Home

It seems like a year since I wrote my last blog about “What We’ve Learned from Our Members”, but in reality it’s only been a few months. I guess it’s because from then until now, our rebrand has progressed at a rapid speed.

We have a new name. We have a new logo. Our brand voice has been created (all of which you will get to see for the first time at NCPP in October). It’s been a lot of work, but it’s just been the tip of the iceberg. We said from the get-go, this rebrand is not only about our outward appearance; it’s really about creating an organization members can call their professional home. We want to be your go-to organization for education, resources, networking, and industry news.


Achieving this “professional home” is where the real change comes into play. Because we are a national organization, and its 2016, the easiest way to communicate and engage our members is online. We knew we had to start with our online community because while our current one functions, it is outdated and cumbersome to use. Our goal is to be able to use the data we’ve captured from our members to give them a more personalized experience. With this idea leading the way, we researched for months and found a community partner, Small World Labs. Their platform will help us transform the member experience into one that is easy to navigate, is dynamic, and genuine.  


When a member signs in they will be welcomed with a personalized dashboard containing entry points to all their member benefits.

  • Our new online library containing over 500+ resources will be easily accessed and provide an in depth search tool. Your personalized dashboard will even suggest resources you may find useful based on your job title, years of experience, or interest area.
  • Gift-PL will remain the primary forum discussion but will be easier to browse posts and follow topics you care about. There will also be additional focused discussion forums including advocacy, stewardship, and a place for those new to charitable gift planning to connect and ask questions.
  • Educational offerings is a new member benefit that will be delivered through the online community. Each education series will have a group in the community where the cohort will access online videos, resources, and network with other participants. This is going to be a wonderful addition to the National membership.
  • Additional groups in the online community include: individual local councils (Partner and Chapter councils), Leadership Institute, council leaders, and NCPP conference attendees. As we continue to develop the community and see need we will add new groups.

These are just some of the awesome things this new online community will be capable of. I’m most excited that we have the ability to add to it and grow based off what our members want/need. This tool will change our members’ experience and for us that is where our hard work will pay off.

We Need Your Help Naming Our Community!

Our deadline of NCPP 2016 is approaching, but we still need your help with this rebrand. It’s no fun referring to this amazing tool as the “online community”.
