I always get excited to talk about our partnership with the local charitable gift planning councils for a couple of reasons. One, it’s an opportunity to share the information with members and non-members about our council structure. And two, I can brag on how amazing our local councils are at educating and connecting gift planning professionals.
CGP has nearly 100 affiliated local councils across the US. The councils typically meet monthly or quarterly to share resources and tools and network with other professionals in their area. Being able to connect in person is invaluable. This is why we encourage all members to join their local council. The dual membership provides a well-rounded experience with members getting access to the national education and network but then also getting that local benefit. This year I was given the opportunity to exhibit at three of our affiliated council’s conferences: Planned Giving Council of Houston, Los Angeles Council of Charitable Gift Planners and Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable.
|It was great to share the excitement of our new brand with council members and conference attendees. It was also really great to experience the atmosphere of a local council event. The camaraderie among the attendees showed that members really do lean on one another to improve their skills and excel at their careers. I am eager to look ahead to 2018 and attend more council conferences and continue to explain that our shared mission to facilitate, coordinate and encourage the education and training of the charitable gift planning community raises the bar for us all.|
This year at NCPP I am especially looking forward to presenting one of our affiliated councils with the Council of the Year Award. The Council of the Year Award recognizes a council that demonstrates significant achievement in the preceding year. This award celebrates innovative programming, special events, membership growth, community impact and other areas of contribution to the charitable gift planning field. We are looking forward to announcing the winner and sharing with you all their great work.
