(11-30-2015) Congress is currently negotiating a major year-end tax bill that we expect will address the IRA Charitable Rollover provision that expired at the end of 2014. The bill is taking shape now, and PPP is asking all members to reach out to their respective Members of Congress this week to voice support for a permanent Rollover provision. The time to reinstate the Rollover and make it permanent is now, so please commit to do the following three things today…
Click here and enter your address to find a listing of your two United States Senators and one Representative. The phone numbers for their DC officers will also be listed.
Call the DC offices of your Senators and Representative (making three calls in total).
State your name and your organization and ask to speak to the staffer who handles tax matters for the Member of Congress.
In all likelihood you will be sent to voicemail or asked to leave a message with the receptionist.) Regardless, the talking point is the same: “Please tell my Senator/Representative to support adding a permanent IRA Charitable Rollover provision to the tax extenders legislation presently under consideration in Congress.” If given the opportunity, share a personal anecdote relating to the Rollover and/or discuss how Rollover contributions have positively impacted your community.
Engage on social media.
Use Twitter and Facebook to urge the leaders of the powerful tax-writing committees, as well as Congressional leadership and your own Members of Congress, to include a provision making the IRA Charitable Rollover permanent in tax extender legislation presently under consideration.
@SenOrrinHatch I stand with @PPPphilanthropy & support a permanent IRA Charitable Rollover as part of the tax extenders package. #IRArollover
@SenOrrinHatch Inaction on tax extenders like the #IRArollover means less funding for nonprofits and charities, please make it permanent!
